The American College of Physicians (ACP) has launched a new quality improvement program designed to support organizations and physicians in improving patient care.
The ACP Advance program, launched in conjunction with the launch of the 2019 Annual Meeting of Internal Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, will provide registered individuals and organizations this morning with a 12-month personalized coaching program including a program and access to online training. and resources.
In announcing the new program, ACP President Ana Maria Lopez, MPH, has focused on the importance of improving patient care for health care teams with the new IQ program.
According to the ACP, the program integrates 4 pillars of success:

- Maximize efficiency while minimizing the burden
ACP Advance IQ programs and resources for long-term care include issues such as adult immunization, atrial fibrillation, chronic pain, safe prescription of opioids, and diabetes. The program will be available for individual members and ACP subscribers, while non-members will be able to access the program for a fee.
Cynthia Smith, MD, vice president of clinical programs at ACP, said the program was the result of a group's efforts to investigate and create a focus group with ACP members. The end product is an equation of what physicians need to succeed "in the era of value-based payment and population health".
Smith pointed out the advantages and disadvantages of the survey results, that most doctors are determined to maintain productivity throughout their day, but that their time is heavy. As such, ACP Advance has been designed to serve as a neutral practice over time.

The medical coaching service provides information from domain experts who have been successful in their own practices for a value-based payment. During the 12 months of IQ service, users will keep the same coach and will have access to a cohort of organizations seeking the same goals. The service will also provide doctors participating in the coaching and / or the program with points of continuing medical education (CME) and maintenance of certification (OMC).
