Rookie Adam Long clocked a 14-foot birdie putter in the last hole on Monday (NZT) to win the Desert Clbadic for his first PGA Tour title.

After starting his sixth career career, Long has finished with a PGA West Stadium Course under 65, beating playmates Phil Mickelson and Adam Hadwin.

Mickelson, the leader after each of the first three rounds, fought to put a problem at 69. Hadwin shot 67.

Long set up with the winning pitch with a shot of 6-iron 175 yards with the ball under his feet in the dormant grbad on a mound to the right of the fairway. Former 31-year-old Duke Duke won his PGA tour card with a 13th place finish last year on the Web.com Tour's regular season win list.

Long finished at 26 under-262. He started with a 63 on PGA West's Nicklaus tournament course, shot 71 on the stadium track Friday and had another 63 on Saturday at La Quinta Country Club.

Mickelson, 48, was on his first tour since early October and his first appearance in the competition since winning Tiger Woods in Las Vegas in November as part of an event specifically designed for television. The Hall of Fame won the World Golf Championship – Mexico last year for its 43rd title on the PGA Tour.

Hadwin finished for the fourth consecutive time in the top six. He was second in 2017 after a third round 59 at La Quinta and tied for third place last year.

Talor Gooch was fourth at 24 under after 64, and Dominic Bozzelli followed at 22 under after 66. Jon Rahm, winner in 2018, shot 67 to finish sixth at 21 under.

Justin Rose, first in the standings, finished with 70 to equal 34th to 14. He is the first No.1 player to participate in the tournament since the world ranking in 1986.
