-Jean Mensa has been described as the most competent President of the EC in Ghanaian history
– According to Professor Adei, Mensa’s calm demeanor in the face of false allegations is incomparable
– But, John Dramani Mahama disagreed
Former rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Professor Stephen Adei, says Jean Mensa’s competence as Chairman of the Election Commission (EC) is second to none.
According to him, Mensa is the best president of the EC that Ghana has ever had “in terms of competence”.
To justify his request, Professor Adei, who is also chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), cited Mensa’s calm demeanor in the face of “false” claims by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“From day one, they’ve always stacked up to paint his negative,” he told Accra-based Joy FM on Monday, Jan.4, 2021.
But, John Dramani Mahama disagreed with Professor Adei. According to the former president, Mensa would be the worst the country has seen following the declarations of the 2020 general election.
Akufo-Addo beat Mahama in the polls, garnering 51.302% of the vote while the latter had 47.359%.
Mahama, however, rejected the result, filing a petition with the Supreme Court to challenge it.
Meanwhile, there is no evidence Mahama won the presidential race, National Democratic Congress (NDC) legal team member Dr Dominic Ayine has revealed.
