Reacting to the concerns of certain sections of the public regarding the length and nature of the bridge ramps, Ernest Hammond, Project Manager at First Sky Limited, explained that the "winding" character of the bridge was due to space constraints.

Speaking on Accra-based Citi FM radio on Friday morning, Hammond said the bridge's initial plan was unwelcoming for people with disabilities and the new design was intended to make the gateway accessible to people with disabilities. all.

"The original design, as I know, has stairs that are not suitable for people with mobility problems. What we have done is more suitable for people with disabilities. that is, it is a ramp rather than a staircase and it is easier to use for everyone, "he explained.

"The constraint we tried to overcome was this: we want to make this ramp accessible to everyone. people with disabilities and people who may not have the energy needed to cross a very steep access ramp. We tried to make it as sweet as possible … it's the best design for the situation on the ground, "he explained.

"What we need to know is that with respect to the length of the bridge, it is internationally accepted and you can find similar structures all over the world. Some of them [are] actually longer. Some bridges in the UK, China and Dubai are considerably longer than what we built, "he added.
