Fifty-five pedestrians using the Adentan-Madina highway were arrested on Wednesday morning by the police for failing to comply with the highway code.
This follows a report by Joy News revealing that pedestrians continue to cross the section despite the construction of pedestrian bridges along it.
The footbridges were built following several pedestrian fatalities that residents attributed to the unavailability of the bridges.
Joy News asked some residents why they still did not use the walkways after protesting for the walkways to be completed. They had no valid reason.
Commander of the operations of Accra Region, Chief Superintendent Kwesi Ofori warned that recalcitrant pedestrians would be arrested and commended Multimedia Group for the initiative taken.
"By examining your campaign and the intentions of the police, we will educate those arrested and warn of such acts," he said.
