Admiral Joe Aikhomu dies of COVID-19

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Thursday buried officers who died in the Beechcraft King Air B350i crash on February 21.

The staff were buried in the Karonmajigi National Military Cemetery, Airport Road, Abuja.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), AVM Oladayo Amao, said he had paid the supreme price for service to the nation.

“I am here today carrying my personal grief as well as the entire NAF and the country as we lay down the remains of our fallen colleagues while on active duty in the service of their homeland. .

“I must confess that even at this time, the NAF is still in palpable shock and is deeply saddened by the loss of our gallant and courageous heroes,” said NAN.

Amao added that the officers died during efforts to secure the release of staff and students abducted from Government Science College in Kagara, Niger state.

He said the deaths of officers and airmen should spur Nigerians to speak out and fight the crimes.

The air chief said the NAF will make sure missing souls do not die in vain. He promised their families continued support.

NAF Protestant Chaplaincy Director Group Captain Dogo Gani prayed that the remains of the fallen heroes will rest in peace.
