AfCFTA Secretary General begins 4-day working visit to Côte d’Ivoire

The Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, HE Wamkele Mene, is on a four-day working visit to Côte d’Ivoire.

HE Mene is in the French-speaking country at the instigation of President Alassane Ouattara.

This is his first official visit to this country since taking office.

The visit takes place from July 26 to July 30, 2021, and will take place mainly in the capital, Abidjan.

Among other things, the secretary general of the AfCFTA is to hold consultation meetings with President Ouattara; the Ivorian Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as the Minister of Trade and Industry.

It should also hold consultation meetings with the Federation of West African Employers’ Associations (FOPAO); and the organized private sector.

HE Wamkele Mene was accompanied by officials from the AfCFTA Secretariat, including Senior Advisor to the Secretary General, Peter Joy Sewonoo, and Senior Advisor – Customs, Demitta Gyang.
