Afoko case for contempt of court: IGP and the head of the CID do not show up again for the day of judgment

The Inspector General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu, and the Director General of Police, CID, COP Maame Tiwaa Addo Danquah, did not show up for the third time at a high court in Accra, where they were tried for contempt of court.

In the previous two sessions, Judge Jennifer Dodoo indicated that she would only make a decision if both officers were present.

She further stated that she would have issued a warrant for arrest against them if it was ordinary citizens.

The lawyers for the alleged murder suspect, Gregory Afoko, initiated contempt proceedings demanding that the two top police officials be punished for refusing to release Afoko, even though they met the conditions for release. on bail laid down by the High Court in March 2019.

Judge Dodoo decided on July 22 to make her decision after the absence of the president of the PGI and the CID.

However, on Monday at 3 pm, when the case was called to appear, the directors of the IGP and the CID were not present.

Joy News sources said the case had been postponed until October 10.
