Accra, July 26, GNA – The Association of
Black Woman Attorneys (ABWA) in New York, are ready to collaborate with their
Ghanaian counterparts to continue their program to promote women.

The Association traveled to Ghana to celebrate
their one-week retreat on the theme: "Strengthen the links and connect with
the diaspora ", which saw a large delegation from ABWA.

A statement issued by the Association stated
The highlight of the visit was a blender, where the ABWA team collaborated with a selection
Ghanaian lawyers at a badtail party.

The event was organized by ABWA partners in
Ghana, Institute of International Affairs.

Ms. Machelle Sweeting, judge of the new
York City Civil Court, stated: "It is an honor to be able to undertake
this trip. For many members of ABWA, this is a pilgrimage to connect to our
heritage."

Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwah, MP and a ranking
A member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs stressed the importance of
the event as a welcome "SANKOFA" for the ABWA team.

He said that it was as expected in the
President's Vision for "Year of Return" and "Ghana in Recent Decades"
has launched many initiatives, including PANAFEST and visa-free initiatives
encourage a culture of return and belonging to Africa from the diaspora. "

"The year of the return continues in this mold
and I am excited about tonight's success and look forward to welcoming ABWA
individually in the years to come, "he added.

Ms. Sheila Minka Premo, Senior Director
Partner of Apex Law Consult, said: "It's a pleasure to see so many women
the lawyers gathered in one place and I think your trip was so hard-hitting
for you as you had planned. "

All members of the ABWA team were in the process of being
with Ghanaian names to mark their return home.
