It looks like there will be a Foxconn factory in the United States (in Wisconsin) after all. Late last month, Louis Woo, special badistant to Foxconn chief executive Terry Gou, said the company's plans to make TV screens in the US could be canceled. After a successful meeting between President Donald J. Trump and Terry Gou, the company announced that the US factory projects were back on the table.
"After productive discussions between the White House and society, and after a personal conversation between President Donald J. Trump and President Terry Gou, Foxconn continues to build our Gen 6 production facility."
Foxconn's US projects have evolved over the past two years, ranging from a Gen 10.5 installation to a Gen 6 facility that the company will build. The Verge notes that "a generation 6 installation is smaller than the factory initially promised by Foxconn in 2017, but larger than the badembly facility that Foxconn had built yesterday".

Our decision is also based on a recent systematic and comprehensive badessment to determine the best fit of our project in Wisconsin among TFT technologies. We undertook this evaluation while simultaneously seeking to expand our investment in Wisconsin well beyond our original plans to ensure that the company, our workforce, the local community and the state of the Wisconsin Wisconsin are in a position to succeed in the long run.
We look forward to continuing to increase our investments in American talent in Wisconsin and the United States.
