THE AFTERMATH takes place in post-war Germany in 1946. Rachael Morgan (Keira Knightley) arrives in the ruins of Hamburg during a harsh winter to find her husband, Lewis (Jason Clarke), British colonel responsible for rebuilding the city. But as they head to their new home, Rachael is stunned to discover that Lewis has made an unexpected decision: they will share the big house with his former owners, a German widower (Alexander Skarsgård) and his troubled daughter. In this charged atmosphere, enmity and sorrow give way to pbadion and betrayal.
