FC Barcelona and Atlético Mineiro have concluded an agreement for the transfer of Emerson Aparecida Leite de Souza Junior. The Brazilian will officially join the Catalan club on July 1, 2019.
The fees have been set at 12 M € and the player will sign for the next five seasons, until 2023/24.
Strong in defense, strong in attack
Born in Sao Paulo January 14, 1999 (20 years), Emerson has been in Belo Horizonte for a little over a year. Before Atlético Mineiro, he was playing for Ponte Preta from the city of Campinas. The right-back has also played at different levels of Brazilian youth and is currently playing U20 South America Championship in Chile.
In his country, he was compared to a former star of Barça Dani Alves, being the typical Brazilian wing who likes to advance and support the attack. Not only does he cause constant woes to his opponents, he is also able to provide accurate pbades to his attackers. He is fast and decent, and has all the flair that one can expect from a Brazilian when he has it on foot.
Indeed, this is the kind of player that should fit well into the Barça scheme. And this is well illustrated by the way he likes to get the ball out of the back – he works closely with his teammates on the basis of short pbades, gradually progressing on the ground in search of the right moment for killer pbad.
