The Gonja West District Assembly presented eleven (11) motorcycles to the agricultural extension agents of the Gonja West District of Savannah Region.
Talk to thepressradio.com during a short ceremony in the offices of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the District Director (DCE) West Gonja, the Hon. Muazu Saeed Jibril said the initiative was aimed at making it easier for officers to boost production.
According to him, the district of West Gonja initially had four (4) extension agents and when it was able to employ agents for the extension services, it was able to present 20 names of graduates having completed the Damongo Agriculture College at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
The WFD revealed that sixteen (16) of them were employed in the district of fourteen (14) men and two (2) women.
The WFD is therefore very pleased that eleven (11) of the sixteen (16) are receiving motorcycles from the Government of Ghana as part of the Modernizing Agriculture In Ghana (MAG) program.
The WCC of West Gonja said that he was also happy today. The West Gonja District Ministry of Food and Agriculture boasts 20 extension workers who will visit communities to educate and help farmers.
An exhilarated DCE badured other officers who had not received the motorcycles to be patient because some of the bikes will be available to them.
However, he warned the police to use the motorcycles for the purposes for which they were intended and to take good care of them.
He advised staff members to show respect to their superiors, as this is essential in every organization.
Hon Jibril also took the opportunity to introduce the new officers to the new veterinarian in the district.
Mr. Peter Claver Anyeembey, District Director for Agriculture, thanked the WFD for always supporting the Ministry of Agriculture. He appealed to him to make sure that the other officers are also mobilized in other countries to improve their circulation in the communities.
