Manchester City's visit to the new Tottenham Hotspur stadium for the first leg of its Champions League clash began under dramatic circumstances with an anticipated penalty thanks to VAR.
The video badistant referee has been a much-maligned aspect of the Champions League so far. This campaign sparked even more controversy early in the game after Danny Rose seemed to take the lead.
The English defender went to the ground at that time and had his hand above his body. The referee Bjorn Kuipers was awarded a penalty after consulting a sequence.
Here is the VAR incident that led to Man. Missed penalty of the city.

It did not matter, however, to Hugo Lloris who escaped Sergio Aguero's sentence.

The decision itself again sparked a lot of disagreement, with former Republic of Ireland striker Niall Quinn calling it "questionable". Rose was also booked for the incident.
