Aguero, Sterling and Sane return for their trip to Newcastle

[ad_1]

Sergio Aguero, Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling have all been named in the starting lineup for tonight's game at Newcastle United.

Pep Guardiola made five changes to the team that beat Burnley 5-0 in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday, with David Silva and Aymeric Laporte.

Guardiola named Fernandinho midfielder David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne in his starting lineup for the first time in the Premier League this season. They have, of course, played a central role in our record-breaking success.

Danilo continues to the left back after a series of solid displays, with Kyle Walker on the right. Laporte, partner of John Stones, is at the heart of the city's bottom line.

Vincent Kompany and Claudio Bravo are still injured, while Oleksandr Zinchenko and Benjamin Mendy are not in good form and have remained in Manchester.

Tactical

City will play 4-3-3 and, as always, seek to dominate possession of the ball and play the right foot.

Fernandinho will examine the last four, while Walker and Danilo will be responsible for making the difference.

Silva and De Bruyne have the freedom to roam, while Sterling and Sane will embrace the sidelines and create space across the middle for Aguero.

Expect a Newcastle defensive team. Rafa Benitez has traditionally arranged them with men behind the ball to frustrate us.

Last season's 1-0 win at St James's Park is a good example. City saw the whole ball but struggled to break through a well-packed defense in Newcastle.

Statistics and facts

Newcastle are without a win in their last 22 Premier League games against Manchester City (D3, L19). This is both the longest winless run of the Magpies and the longest series of undefeated defeats of City against a leading opponent.

The last victory of the Magpies against City took place on September 24, 2005, with Michael Owen scoring the only goal of the match at St James's Park.

Newcastle however won a League Cup game at Etihad Stadium in October 2014.

Manchester City have scored 29 goals in league and cup since their last match (2-1 win at Liverpool on 3 January).

City has won all eight previous games in all competitions and has scored 28 unanswered goals in its last six games.

They have won four Premier League victories, winning the last two by a score of 3-0.

Victoire would allow Pep Guardiola to break the record for the most wins of a coach in his first 100 Premier League matches. He is currently tied with Jose Mourinho after winning 73 of his 99 games (D15, L11).

Kyle Walker could make the 250th Premier League appearance of his career.

Sergio Aguero scored 14 goals in 12 Premier League matches against Newcastle – more than any player has scored against an opponent for a single club in the history of the competition.
