Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister of Information
The Minister of Information has accused the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of interfering in ongoing investigations into the badbadination of the undercover investigator, Ahmed Hussein- Suale.
At a press conference Monday, the party asked the police to arrest Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, for instigating the public to act against Ahmed.
The party believes that Mr. Agyapong's accusations regarding Ahmed must be defeated, makes him an accomplice to his badbadination and should not be allowed to free himself.
"… Mr. Agyapong appears to have criminal liability in the death of Ahmed, and he also has criminal liability for instigating the public to hit Ahmed and cause injury to Mr. Anas to obtain a pecuniary reward, "said former Deputy Interior Minister James Agalga, in front of the press conference.
But Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said that the actions and comments formulated by the NDC in connection with the murder of the Tiger Eye PI investigator were inappropriate, especially at the moment when an investigation is ongoing on the incident .
"What should be noted is that there is a vast police investigation going on and that different people of interest have been encountered, including people who have made contact with them. subject of investigations conducted by the organization. [Tiger Eye PI]and people who have made public comments about it.
"We are at a stage where my understanding of what the minority is doing seems to be overcoming ongoing investigations and drawing their own conclusions, even before the findings of police investigations," he said. .
Oppong Nkruamh, also a deputy of Ofoase Ayirebi, wants the police and other investigative services in charge of the case to be given the space and support they need to conduct a thorough and professional investigation.
"… so that the record with which they come out at the end of the day is able to withstand the test of any defense before our competent courts," he added.
He refused to give credit to the NDC's attack against the presidency and to accusations that the president was responsible for the state of insecurity and fear in the country.
Oppong Nkrumah admits that the recent wave of killings and armed robberies is alarming, but said the government was not asking the administration to ensure that the security agencies are well equipped to perform their duties.
"But despite these incidents, which they cite and therefore seek to say that we are in a state of unprecedented insecurity and fear, I think that in general, Ghanaians feel safe to carry out their activities in their country, Ghana. "
"Yes, we have had a number of incidents that displease everyone, but our security agencies are at the top of their job if they have the opportunity, the resources, and the support to conduct a worthy investigation." he concluded.
He insisted on the need to support these agencies at all times, adding: "Do not be rushed by political expediency to free them or to make them make mistakes in their work … They have proven themselves in some of the horrible cases that if given the opportunity and the space, they can [deliver]… "
