PARIS (Reuters) – Airbus suffered more cancellations than orders at the end of March, leaving the European airline with a gloomy first quarter after five straight wins in the race to fly jet planes against its US rival Boeing. .

Airbus said Thursday it has won 62 gross orders in the first three months of 2019, but some 120 cancellations left it with a net number of 58 net orders.

Earlier this month, Colombian airline Avianca canceled an order for 17 Airbus A320 Neo aircraft and delayed deliveries of another 35 aircraft, according to a filed file.
