Kennedy Osei Nyarko, Deputy Minister of Agriculture
Akim Swedru's MP in the Eastern Region, Kennedy Osei Nyarko, is among the top 10 legislators in the latest survey conducted by the University of Ghana, reported ABC News Ghana.
Mr. Osei Nyarko, also vice minister of food and agriculture, was ranked 8th on the list of legislators in the report published by the Department of Political Science.
He is the 3rd MP from the Eastern Region to climb to the top 10 after his colleagues at Abetifi and Atiwa East.
In a brief response following the publication by the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana, Kennedy Osei Nyarko called the news of comforting and dedicated achievement to his constituents.
"I thank the good people of Akim Swedru for letting me serve them. This is good news, especially for my team and constituency leaders. Let us build on this success and bring more developments and opportunities to the people of Akim Swedru, "he said.
The University of Ghana's study "A Mid-Term Study of MPs: Emerging Issues" found that the alleged poor performance of some MPs could create voter apathy.
The report recommended that parliamentarians exercise the greatest circumspection in keeping campaign promises, adding that their continued absence from their constituencies could affect their re-election bid.
