President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will appoint his new government from next week, Dailymailgh.com can reveal.
Sources deep in the halls of power have revealed that Akufo-Addo is collapsing seven ministries he introduced in his first term, pro-government network Asaase Radio reported.
Relevant ministries and their ministers include the Special Development Initiative (Mavis Hawa Koomson), Enterprise Development (Awal Mohammed), City Center and Zongo Development, Monitoring and Evaluation (Anthony Akoto Osei) .
According to reports selected by Dailymailgh.com, former Aviation Minister Kofi Adda lost his job as functions from his ministry were added to the Ministry of Transport.
Dr Mustapha Hamid is likely to head one of the government agencies, sources say as the president suppresses the Inner City and Zongo Development Ministry. He is likely to be named CEO of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), sources at Jubilee House told Dailymailgh.com.
The Ministry of Regional Reorganization and Development headed by Okere MP Dan Botwe will not be part of Akufo-Addo’s second term.
The public procurement ministry headed by Kwabenya Dome MP Adwoa Sarfo was also dismantled. She will likely be reassigned, Asaase Radio reported.
The Ministry of Planning of which Professor Gyan Baffour was minister will also be abolished and added to the Ministry of Finance.
Well-placed sources said Akufo-Addo could reduce its ministerial list by 30%. He appointed 123 ministers and their deputies in his first term – the largest government in Ghana’s fourth Republican history.
