In accordance with article 89 (2) of the Constitution of Ghana, the President of the Republic, Nana Akufo-Addo, has published a list of persons appointed to the Council of State.
A statement from Jubilee House’s communications directorate released on Monday and signed by Acting Presidential Communications Director Eugene Arhin says a total of 11 people have been appointed to the board.
According to the statement, Juabenhene, Nana Otuo Siriboe II, the lawyer, Sam Okudzeto and Stanley Blankson have all been retained by the president.
The others are Dr Magaret Amoakohene, Georgina Kusi, Alberta Cudjoe, Archbishop Justice Ofei Akrofi, Professor Ato Essuman, Alhaji Aminu Amadu, Kuoro Richard Babini Canton VI and Alhaji Sule Yiremiah.
In addition, subject to consultation with Parliament, the President also appointed to the Council former Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood, former Chief of Defense Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General JB Danquah and the former Inspector General of Police, Nana Owusu Nsiah.
This, the declaration states, is in accordance with Article 89 (2) (a) (i) (ii) and (iii) of the Constitution of Ghana.
Mr. Arhin concluded that “The composition of the Council will be complete with the election, to be held on February 12, of regional representatives, in accordance with Article 89, paragraph 2, point c).
