President Nana Akufo-Addo has confirmed the appointment of Dr Mustapha Abdul Hamid as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).

Dr Abdul Hamid will replace Hassan Tampuli who is now MP for Gushegu.

Until his appointment, Dr Abdul Hamid was Minister of Zongo and Development of Inner Cities after having been Minister of Information from 2017.

Dr Hamid joins the likes of Francis Asenso Boakye and Abu Jinapor who were also named.

All three have served President Akufo-Addo since his days in opposition and were appointed to various positions in 2017.

During Akufo-Addo’s second term, he is believed to have strategically placed them in key public institutions to reward them, but mostly because he believes in their ability to deliver.
