President Nana Addo Akufo-Addo Dankwa instructed the Attorney General to prepare legislation against activism in Ghana.
President Akufo-Addo said this in a second letter to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National President, the opposition party, Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, about the dismantling of militia groups in Ghana.
The letter dated March 14, 2019, 10 days after a previous communication addressed to the same addressee on the same issue, President Akufo-Addo wrote: "As I said in my statement to Parliament at the State Message of the nation on 21 February 2019, he asked the public prosecutor, without prejudice to the results of the possible engagement between the NPP and the NDC, to prepare and submit to Parliament, as soon as possible, specific legislation aimed at to fight against the phenomenon of vigilantism, and to provide appropriate sanctions against its appearance. "
"I believe that the process of parliamentary enactment gives enough room for any citizen to contribute to the enactment of a good and effective law, the implementation of which will enable us to rid our country of violence related to politics, a development that is the only goal, for the benefit of Ghanaian democracy and the maintenance of public order, "added President Akufo-Addo.
