Indeed, before the construction of the Buipe hospital, its residents had to rely on the University Hospital of Tamale, or the Hospital of the Holy Family of Techiman.

Considering the distances to be traveled from Buipe to Tamale or Techiman, it had become imperative that the government build a health center in Buipe to meet the health needs of residents of the central district of Gonja.
