President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo sent a congratulatory message to the newly elected Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson.
The former foreign minister was elected Tuesday by the Conservatives to replace Theresa May, who stepped down last month.
He beat the current Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt.
The Ghanaian leader, also a former foreign minister, said on Twitter that he was looking forward to working with Mr. Johnson.
"I wish you every success and look forward to working with him to strengthen the already close ties between our two countries."
Boris Johnson, former mayor of London, is a member of Parliament for Uxbridge and South Ruislip.
He visited Ghana for the last time in February 2017.
