Akufo-Addo harvested Anger of Martin Amidu - Lawyer Edudzi

Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, a private lawyer and member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), said the appointment of Martin Amidu as a special prosecutor was purely programmed to capitalize on his bitterness towards former President Mahama and the NDC party.

Nana Addo, he said, really exploited Amidu's anger in a very unethical way.

According to the affable young lawyer, President Akufo-Addo seized the opportunity of a bad relationship between Amidu, former President John Mahama and the NDC, to propose to him (Amidu) the appointment without any thorough consultation.

Mr. Edudzi made these statements on his Facebook page.

According to him, the law establishing the Office requires due process and not emotions.

In his opinion, Amidu could not apply the law on the Special Prosecutor's Office without resorting to the provisions of the Constitution and procedures.

"The 1992 Constitution has provisions that provide protections for citizens, from arrest to detention, to detention in court," he suggested.

"In the recent case of Eugene Baffoe Bonnie and Others v. Republic, the Supreme Court has broadened the scope of revelations in criminal trials to include those involving summary trials," said lawyer Edudzi.

According to the decision of the Supreme Court, the lawsuits could easily take for anger, stating: "You can not really hide serious material evidence from the defendants".

He added that while Nana Addo was thinking of a special Gestapo persecutor's office, the situation under the laws of the country could not guarantee that the president and his party could not be pursued without clashes by the new patriotic party. .

Mr. Edudzi said that if the President believed and trusted Mr. Amidu, he would still not use investigators from the Bureau of Economic Crime and organized for his work.

He also doubts the sincerity of Mr. Amidu's appointment as President, as EOCO has investigated several people and initiated criminal proceedings.

Instead of using Mr. Amidu and his office to sue alleged corrupt officials, he stressed that "the president prefers to make more use of the current attorney general." She is currently suing in various cases. " .

"It is clear that the conduct of Nana Addo's Attorney General should tell you that the OSP was just for politics," said Edudzi's lawyer.

The member of the NDC legal team said: "Mr. Amidu easily fell into the political game of Nana Addo without more."

He postulated that Amidu would try to please the president, but the steam is gone.

He also pointed out that the last comment of the NPP on Martin Amidu's work betrayed more the NPP's political subculture of using criminal prosecution as a tool for political demonization.

Mr. Edudzi said that to save his credibility, Mr. Amidu had more than to resign from the Bureau.

The lawyer stated that the real people who would face the Special Prosecutor's Office would be those appointed by President Akufo Addo after he left his post in 2021.

For him, "anyone with a critical mind can see the various corrupt arrangements she has made using the Parliament".
