Dr. Hanna Bissiw, organizer of the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), described the Akufo-Addo government as a "corrupt" and "perverse" administration that intimidated journalists and stole the freedom to the press in Ghana.
Expressing in front of Clbad News at the event "Kum y? N pr? Ko & # 39; organized on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 by the Coalition for Social Justice in Accra, Dr. Bissiw told Simon Agbovi that the evilness of the Akufo-Addo government had rooted insecurity and fear among journalists who she says , can not speak and work freely.
"We protest against hardships, insecurity in our country, theft in our country, corruption in our country, the powerlessness of the government we have put in place," she said.
"Now, when you say that the president is corrupt or the government is corrupt, you guys [media] say it's an allegation.
"Your freedom of the press has been stolen, so now you are even afraid to know the very opinion of Ghanaians.
"I want to remind you that, according to the stolen speech of the President at his inauguration, he said that we should be citizens and not spectators. So the media are starting to work as citizens; stop things "scared scared".
"It's a corrupt government, it's a pervert government, it's a bad government, that's why taxes are high: there is the tax on toilets, the borla tax. Today, the markets are collapsing, today the education system is down, security in this country is no longer either. What we are saying is that we want to recover our security, and you, the press, are the ones who inform us, we want your freedom back, "she asked.
Some of the signs carried by protesters are inscribed with the words: "2020, we are going to show Nana" and "Akufo-Addo, give up this room now".
