President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo inaugurated a GH ¢ 2.7 million community water project to make drinking water easily accessible to residents of Brosankro and neighboring communities in the Tano South Municipality of the region from Ahafo.
As part of his two-day working visit to the region, the president on Thursday commissioned the facility, which is solar-powered, and has the capacity to pump 132,000 gallons of water per day, to serve more than 8,000 rural populations.
Engineer Alhaji Hamed Ewura, the project manager, who accompanied the president on the World Bank-funded project, said work on the facility, which had 28,600 tanks, had started in 2019.
He explained that the “Brosankro Small Town Water Supply Project” was part of the community water and sanitation project, which would help the nation achieve target six of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United States. United Nations (UN) aimed at ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water. and sanitation for all by 2030.
The facility has a public standpipe that uses a smart tap device and a battery to store energy, explained Alhaji Ewura, saying it is technologically designed so that it can also be connected to households.
