The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Tuesday 5e October 2021, inspected the ongoing work on retooling and re-equipping the Kwahu-Atibie Hospital, as well as work on the $ 47 million Mpraeso-Hweehwee-Oyimso.
At the start of his three-day tour of the Eastern region, President Akufo-Addo visited Atibie Hospital, which is part of a 40 million euro contract awarded to Messrs. Contracta Construzion Italia SRL for the retooling and equipping of four selected health establishments in the Eastern region.
This project, which officially started in October 2019, includes work on the Presbyterian KOM Clinic in Aburi, Atibie Hospital in Kwahu, Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital and the Government Hospital in Kibi.
As the project is nearly seventy percent (70%) complete, it is expected to be completed by 24e November 2021.
The scope of work undertaken by contractors includes work on OPD, OBS and Gynae service, maternity, laboratory unit, administration, conference room, pharmacy unit, rooms theater and labor department, surgical department, NICU, CSSD, children’s department, kitchen. , laundry, water supply, medical gas system and A&E expansion and imaging center.
In Mpraeso, the President inspected the reconstruction works of the Mpraeso-Hweehwee-Oyimso road (47.0 km), the contract of which was awarded on 21st December 2020, and is expected to be completed on 17e July 2023.
The road is located in the districts of Kwahu East and Kwahu South in the Eastern region, with residents of communities such as Mpraeso, Nkwatia, Abetifi, Abene, Hweehwee, Kwaku Safo, Yaw Tenkorang, Oboyan No. 1, Oboyan No. 2, Abotrensa, Dwerebease and Onyimso are expected to be the beneficiaries of the project.
