FAziz Harunah Futah, a member of Accra Hearts of Oak Management's Ormer, congratulated President Akufo-Addo for releasing funds (109 million euros) aimed at developing Zongo communities in the country.
Addressing Muslims gathered for Eid Ul-Fitr in Accra yesterday, the president said Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta had signed a warrant to this effect.
He said this would allow the Ministry of Inner Cities and Zongo Development to draw funds from the Zongo Development Fund for 2019, allocated to Zongo projects across the country.
And for Aziz Futah, who is the chief coordinator of NPP Nasara, the gesture is commendable and should be highly commended.
Futah said, "This is unprecedented, it never happened in Zongos history and I think the president deserves praise. I do not think it will be inappropriate to qualify the Messiah President of Zongos.
"Do you know why?" The judicious use of funds will go a long way towards transforming lives in our Zongos, I am a boy from Zongo and I know what I am talking about.
"Certainly, there would be the construction of social amenities, and believe me, these works will not only beautify the premises, but also help shape the psyche of children and the elderly.
"I advise my Muslims to support this initiative as part of our efforts to improve our Zongos. The construction of the facilities will require human resources. I think the different contractors will employ young people in the regions, which will give them jobs. "
The president praised the Muslims for enduring the challenges of fasting for a whole month and urged them to stay righteous and not succumb to the temptation to return to the old ways of unrighteousness after Ramadan.
