President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo visited the scene of the Akim Oda market fire to end his three-day tour of the eastern region from Tuesday to Thursday.

He assured those affected of government financial support from the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA) and MASLOC and said steps were underway to revive market operations.

The President also pledged to ensure that registered affected people benefit from the GEA and MASLOC programs, which aim to develop and promote medium, small and micro enterprises through the provision of innovative and efficient financial services.

On September 13, 2021, at around 8:50 p.m., a fire broke out in Akim Oda’s main market, destroying goods and property.

President Akufo-Addo, as part of his three-day tour activities, inaugurated a new two-story District Assembly administrative building at Akyem Manso, a one-story boys’ dormitory at the secondary school Akroso (SHS) and an administrative floor of the District Assembly in the southern district of Birim.

In addition, he commissioned New Gatte Farms, a poultry farm in Akyem Wenchi, as part of the One District One Factory initiative.

During the president’s visit to Akroso SHS, Nana Kwabena Ofori II, head of Akyem Akroso, requested the elevation of the Akroso clinic, built in 1963, into a health center to serve the many surrounding communities.

In response, President Akufo-Addo said Asene Manso Akroso district was a beneficiary of Agenda 111, where a district hospital would be built in Akyem Asubua while the elevation of the Akroso clinic would be considered. .

The president, in response, expressed optimism that with the collective support of all the chiefs in the traditional Kotoku area, the issues would be resolved amicably before the end of his term.

Daasebre Dr Nyarko Asumadu Appiah, Head of Akyem Wenchi, during a courtesy visit from the President, called for an overhaul of the Great Consolidated Diamonds Limited (GCDL) in Akwatia to serve as a source of employment for the people.

GCDL intends to establish an integrated diamond mining and processing industry with the primary goal of overturning the fortunes of the mine.

He called for rapid works on the rehabilitation of the Takorasi-Kusi road and roads in Akwatia town.

The president started his three-day tour of the eastern region from Nkawkaw to Atibie, Koforidua, Peduase, Adukrom, Awukugua, Okere, Adeiso, Akroso, Manso, Akyem Swedru, Akim Oda, and ended in Akyem Wenchi.
