Former President John Dramani Mahama
Former President John Dramani Mahama accused President Akufo-Addo of misinforming Ghanaians when he appeared in Parliament on Thursday for the State of the Nation Address.
The former president who used Twitter to make this revelation pointed out that the NPP government had not discovered any oil, contrary to what Akufo-Addo had said in his speech. The oil was discovered in 2013.
"The president has exposed a number of uninformed facts. An example is the claim that his government discovered oil. This discovery was made by Hess in 2013, "he said.
In his speech to Parliament, President Akufo-Addo revealed that the NPP government had discovered oil in 2007.
He further noted that "in eight years of NDC administration, 13 oil block contracts have been signed and none has been developed. The first one signed in 2017 under my government, which was Aker, led to the second largest oil discovery in Africa.
