President Akufo-Addo is sympathetic to the family of Major-General Francis Vib-Sanziri, Ghana's Chief of Mission and Force Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF).

He died on Friday, April 19 in Israel.

In a press release issued a few hours after the announcement of the death, President Akufo-Addo said he was saddened by the news "sincere condolences addressed to his widow, the police commissioner, Beatrice Vib-Sanziri ".

"To his children and his family, to the Minister of Defense, Chief of the Defense Staff, Chief of the Defense Staff, officers, men and women of the Armed Forces Ghana, UN Secretary-General António Guterres, and members of UNDOF.

He added that "our country has lost a competent and dedicated professional military officer, who has served his country and the international community with distinction. It was certainly a distinguished military career.
