President Nana Addo Akufo-Addo Dankwa promoted two police commissioners to the rank of police commissioner (COP).

The two are Kwasi Mensah-Duku, who is the regional commander of Ashanti and Paul Manly Awini, the central regional commander.

The promotions, which came into effect on July 1, 2019, were on the recommendation of the Police Council, according to a wireless police message observed by Citi News.

The message indicated that President Akufo-Addo had endorsed the recommendation of the police council to promote both.

The president also approved the request for extension of service within the Ghana Police, Kwasi Mensah Duku, for a period of two years. The appointment to the contract expires on July 9, 2021.

In April of this year, President Akufo-Addo promoted to commissioners five senior police officers at the rank of police commissioner, including the current CID Boss, Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah.
