Matthew Yaw Kyeremeh
The Acting Registrar of the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA), Mr. Matthew Yaw Kyeremeh, was fired by Nana Addo Dankwa President Akufo-Addo, MyNewsGh.com, can confirm.
Mr. Kyeremeh was appointed somewhere in May 2017 as Registrar of HeFRA. More than two years after his acting appointment, he failed to meet with the Public Service Commission, a source on the portal said.
The checks at MyNewsGh.com revealed that Mr. Kyeremeh was not a health professional and, therefore, could not be confirmed by the Public Utilities Board.
On May 1, 2018, three health professionals will ask President Nana Akufo-Addo to end the appointment of Mathew Yaw Kyeremeh as Acting Registrar of the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency. (Hefra).
According to health professionals, Mr. Kyeremeh does not have the constitutional qualification to hold this position in the agency, which is an important entity of the Ministry of Health.
In a joint petition addressed to the Chairman of the Parliament's Special Committee on Health, the Minister of Health and the Secretary General of the Ghana Medical Association, the petitioners, Kwasi Andoh (MPH); Dr. Gordon Appiah and Dr. John Poku said that Mr. Kyereme did not qualify for this organization, which should be "composed of experienced health professionals with extensive management experience".
The primary function of HeFRA, as defined in the Health Facilities and Institutions Act 829, (2011), Part 1, Section is to "receive, review and approve license applications, inspect and authorize facilities for provision of public and private health services.

According to article 100 of the law n ° 829 (2011) on the institutions and institutions of health, "the clerk must be a practitioner endowed with a considerable experience or a training in 39, administration and management ".
On that basis, the petitioners appealed to the chair to revoke the current clerk, who is not even a health professional. The petitioners noted that HeFRA has suffered a number of administrative and financial abuses over the last 10 years. Therefore, "the necessary attention and support should be given to the agency that regulates the quality of our health care to protect the public."
When MyNewsGh.com contacted Mr. Kyeremeh to get his answer, he confirmed the story, but said he was not serving as Acting Head of Hefra because he has more than 65 years and, as required by law, he must pave the way.
