The founder and leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike, revealed that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo has fueled all the internal feuds within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Former nuclear power plant secretary general Kwabena Agyei Agyapong and former national president Paul Awentami Afoko were suspended indefinitely by the nuclear power plant disciplinary committee on the basis of recommendations in October 2015.
Mr. Akwasi Addai Odike speaking on Kumasi-based Abusua FM morning show, hosted by Kwadwo Marfo and monitored by MyNewsGh.com, said chairman Akufo-Addo is behind the indefinite suspension of Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong just to take control of the party.
According to Odike, President Akufo-Addo goes to great lengths to bring the division into NPP and sideline any NPP gurus who may challenge his decisions.
“President Akufo-Addo has devised a strategy to control the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and have autocratic power within the party. He (Akufo-Addo) is against those who will challenge his decisions. Look at how he managed to sideline Kwabena Agyapong, Afoko and others, ”Odike said.
“Akufo-Addo told NPP leaders that he could not work with Akwatia Constituency MP Ama Sey because she was a hairdresser. Ama Sey fought to win the Akwatia seat for NPP but due to the attitude of President Akufo-Addo, NDC won the Akwatia seat from NPP ”. He pretended.
Odike added that “the majority of NPP MPs lost their seats in the 2020 general election because President Akufo-Addo was not on good terms with them. He treated MP Fomena who became independent as an enemy because he wanted to remove the man from the party …
After fighting against Kwabena Agyapong and Afoko, President Akufo-Addo went to beg Kwabena Agyapong to join the NPP campaign in 2020. Why is President Akuffo-Addo doing this to the gurus of the NPP and NPP? Asked Odike.
