President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo takes the oath of a new Council of State after a successful election.
The ceremony takes place today Tuesday February 23, 2021.
On Friday February 12, 2021, the Electoral Commission proceeded to the election of the new regional representatives to the Council of State.
Function of the Council of State
Members of the State Council of Ghana, in accordance with the 1992 constitution, are mandated to advise the President on national matters and governance.
The members of the Council consist of a former Chief Justice of Ghana, a former Chief of Defense Staff and a former Inspector General of Police.
The Speaker of the National House of Chiefs is also part of the body along with elected representatives from each region of Ghana.
