The President of the Republic of Ghana, Mrs. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has commissioned the operational headquarters of the Ghana National Gas Company Limited, in AB Bokazo, in the district of Ellembelle, in the western region.

The multipurpose complex dubbed "gas complex" is located in the enclave of the Atuabo gas processing plant in the district of Ellembele, in the western region.

The construction of the facility began in November 2017 and has been completed as planned in November 2018, by SINOPEC Corporation with other subcontractors.

President Nana Addo, meeting today at the premises of the new gas complex in AB Bokazo, acknowledged that this facility was the fulfillment of a key element of the Agreement for the Gas Infrastructure Development Project in the area. Western Corridor.

"The gas complex was originally designed as an integral part of the Western Corridor gas infrastructure development project agreement, which was signed with SINOPEC Corporation in November 2011" , he said.

He commended the company's management and partners for keeping abad of the planned agenda for developing gas infrastructure into a world clbad.

"In fact, this project would change the game in our effort to industrialize Ghana's economy," said Nana Addo.

He pointed out that several road infrastructure projects, including sanitation facilities, have been undertaken or are underway in the communities of the oil and gas enclave of Nzema, for the deliberate purpose of the project. improve livelihoods and the local economy.

"The government is undertaking all these projects to bring Nzema to a status worthy of a world-clbad oil and gas community," said President Nana Addo.

According to the Ghana Gas Company Limited General Manager, Dr. Ben KD Asante, the operational headquarters is based on three pillars of development that serve as pivotal for organizational and community development, and to a greater extent, Ghana's economy. .

He emphasized that the company was founded on a philosophy of business development, staff development and community engagement and development; the three pillars of development integrated into the development of operational headquarters.

Dr. Asante said that the facility would serve among other things to "serve as a command control center for remote operation of our gas processing plants and related pipelines and stations, as well a training and conference center in the western region ".

Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, Minister of the West Region, said that this development was the result of a long-standing plea to make the western region the country's petrochemical center . He hinted that collaborations are underway with the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology to help build the capacity of local oil and gas staff.

"We are looking at fertilizer production, the training of quality human resources, and the manufacturing of petroleum badets. Our friends at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Canada are also very happy and ready to help with such training, "he said.

He hinted that "in the near future, we think that the special oil and gas university will also be present in this enclave".
