National Democratic Congress (NDC) deputy national youth organizer Eric Edem Agbana attacked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, describing him as “the worst president Ghana has ever had”.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Paa Kwesi Schandorf on TV Africa’s Breakfast Live morning show, the NDC youth leader lamented the current state of the economy, highlighting some of the challenges that continue to plague citizens , especially young people.
“… So when you look at everything that has happened I keep saying that President Akufo-Addo will go down in history as the worst president, the worst that Ghana has ever had. And I say this without any excuse. President Akufo -Addo will go down in history as the worst president Ghana has ever had, “he said.
According to him, the current difficulties of the country are the result of “incompetence and lies” of the president and his vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Speaking on the prevailing problems in the country, Edem Agbana asserted that the President’s inability to deal decisively with lawlessness, impunity and corruption has significantly contributed to the deterioration of the situation. in the country.
In his view, the only cure for meeting the start-up challenges in the country is for the NDC to take the reins of power; stressing that the ruling New Patriotic Party lacks the competence to run an economy that will benefit the ordinary Ghanaian on the streets.
Regarding the improvement of the country and the general election of 2024, Edem Agbana also reiterated that John Dramani Mahama remains the best candidate for the NDC before the elections of 2024.
Addressing the raging debate over presidential spouses’ emoluments, Edem Agbana expressed disgust at the way the president has handled the issue since the news broke.
For him, the decision of Professor Ntiamoa-Baidu’s committee to recommend the payment of indemnities to the first and second ladies in the first place was null ab initio.
Indeed, the first and second ladies do not hold an office under Article 71, and it was therefore illegal for the Committee to have made such recommendations, he added.
By evacuating his spleen, the youth leader of the NDC again denied the decision of the first lady to reimburse all the allowances paid to her since taking office.
Dwell on the matter, Agbana pointed out that the first lady had not deliberately repaid the allowances and therefore it was out of place for anyone to praise the act. In his view, the first lady’s decision to reimburse the state allowance was motivated by anger; a posture he considered unhappy.
In conclusion, Edem Agbana called on all Ghanaians, especially young people, to continue to hold President Akufo-Addo and his government to account, given the litany of promises they have made as the 2016 and 2020 elections respectively.
He also urged members of the Democratic National Congress to suspend all grievances against the party and rally to the party in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections in 2024.
Meanwhile, opinions remain divided on the decision of the first lady to reimburse the allowances paid to her since 2017. While a part of the population thinks it was a necessary gesture, others took the first lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo at the cleaner, sowing doubt. on the refund.
