Honestly, I'm thinking of post-baseball. It's been a long time since I'm very interested in [style,] and be in the public eye a little more – and just have more time and have my weight be more predictable. One of the things I've learned recently is that it's really less about what you wear than about your cut – how you wear it. It has been a big change for me.
And it's harder to pin down if you're in the right season or if it's the off season and you're not working so hard?
It's that you just do not have that kind of time [to think about it]. As long as you look great in your pinstripes, that's all that matters to you.
Do you like shopping now? Is this a fun activity for you?
I've always loved shopping. Growing up, I did not have money to do my shopping, that 's true, so I think it' s part of it. But what I like most is being a personal shopper with my daughters. I like to dress and try things, and all that is really fun to do with girls.
What do they think?
They like it because they grow up and grow up fast, so they always ask Daddy to go shopping. They are very stylish.
So, one of the things we recently dug out is that you are one of the few men to wear a pink suit.
Well I wore a pink suit, I do not know if I removed it.
Well, you know, tomato, tomahto. Can you tell me a little about how this happened?
So, it starts with Vegas. All crazy things start in Vegas. And it was Jennifer [Lopez]last broadcast of his three-year residency. We had a very big party and people from all over the world came by plane for the last show. Jennifer said, "That's fine with you," and for some reason, I thought it was better. Then I said, "Okay, it's your last show and if it's something that's going to be cool, then I'll buy it." I l & 39; I bought, I wore it and that's it. We did the story. Not a good story.
Well, we were inside. Do you remember where this one comes from?
Yes, it was Tom Ford in Vegas.
I'm curious. How does your morning routine compare to your pre-game routine?
As for the pre-match routine and what you are going to wear, we were not really in the public eye. I would go to my apartment in New York at Yankee Stadium and we would have indoor parking. So some guys came in flip flops, me in jeans and sneakers, and honestly, I did not think about it too much. I was more concerned about who was pitching for the opposition, how can I get three hits and how can we win the game that night. It was my way of thinking, less knowing what kind of jeans or pants I wore.
Oh, of course. And do you apply that same type of energy now? As, I'm leaving home. How can I go out and get the equivalent of three hits today?
No no. Maybe I should take it more seriously, but honestly, I just put things together. The only thing I focus on, as I said earlier, is simply to make sure that it is a decent choice.
You have your tailor in speed dial.
I would not say that. But I used to wear very loose and comfortable clothes because I thought that comfort was in fashion, and now, I probably have to reverse this idea.
