Algerian coach Belmadi wins FIFA's best football award after AFCON Glory | Soccer

After leading Algeria to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt, Djamel Belmadi, head coach, was nominated for the Federation's coaching prize. International Football Association (FIFA) for the best men's football.

The prize for the best football of FIFA is an award of the football of badociation awarded every year by the sports federation, the FIFA, since 2016.

Other nominations include Didier Deschamps (France), Marcelo Gallardo (River Plate), Ricardo Gareca (Peru), Pep Guardiola Manchester City, Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool), Mauricio Pochettino (Tottenham Hotspur), Fernando Santos (Portugal), Erik Ten Hag (Ajax) and Tite Kubo (Brazil).

Belmadi, 43, became coach of Algeria in August 2018, after coaching Qatar at the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.

Despite strong criticism, Belmadi led Algeria to success and won its first international trophy after defeating all of its opponents on the road to the finals of the 2019 African Nations Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Egypt , including two wins over Senegal in the final group stage.
