All Americans We almost forgot that this show is mainly about football. (Seriously, did the playoffs take place?)
But in the final of the season of Wednesday, the drama CW once again made us all clear, returning to the grid while Spencer James pursued a title of state champion. And given the a lot stormy relationships scattered in the corridors of Beverly High, the final drama was plentiful of the field, as well.
Before telling us what you thought of the end of the season, let's recap what happened:
* Beverly High will face Spencer's former school, South Crenshaw High, in the championship game, which will leave Spencer in conflict. Of course, he wants to win the title – but that would mean devastating Crenshaw and depriving his old neighborhood of a rare moment of happiness. Once the game starts, Coach Baker can immediately see that Spencer is hustling too much and he fears Spencer is playing recklessly.
It turns out that the coach has reason to worry. Moments later, during one play, Spencer brutally attacks his Crenshaw boyfriend, Chris, leaving the teenager motionless on the grbad for a few moments. Spencer panics after realizing that he may have paralyzed his friend – and even after Chris started regaining strength in his legs (phew!), Spencer is so upset that he leaves most of the match. But Spencer's father visits him in the locker room and gives him a great stimulus speech, pushing him to return to the field and play the game he loved since childhood, regardless of his scores and teams.
Spencer takes Corey's words seriously and after convincing Coach Baker to let him back in the game, he ends up breaking the tie and winning the match, winning the long-awaited Beverly High title. (Spencer's crazy run to the end zone is even interspersed with flashbacks on his Pee Wee games, in case your heart needs a shot ahead.)
* After the triumph of Beverly High, Jordan visits his father in his office and engages in the man, qualifying the championship as "false win" since Coach Baker cheated to the top. Coach Baker badures Jordan that he already knows how much his life has been ruined, both personally and professionally. He finally leaves a letter of resignation on his office in Beverly High, then decides to settle temporarily with his father, Willy, to give a little space to Laura and children.
* Olivia breaks essentially with Layla – or whatever the equivalent of a breakup in friendship – after telling Layla that their BFF status takes too much work to maintain. Later, however, Layla has a small breakdown at home, sobbing as she breaks and destroys almost everything in her crested cushion. Olivia visits Layla and finds the house in ruins, then comforts her friend when she cries. (In other news not related to Olivia: Asher is totally in her.)
* With the help of Laura Baker and several policemen from the Los Angeles Police Department, Coop rides Tyrone and finally makes him stop, ending his involvement in the Crenshaw gangs.
* Spencer's father chooses to stay a little longer around Crenshaw. In fact, he plans to take the job of head coach of the South Crenshaw High football team – and he wants Spencer to come home and play for him instead of Beverly High. Spencer seems to be in conflict with this offer, and Corey badures his son that he does not need to make a decision immediately.
Then, a few moments later, Corey and Grace make up for it, and Corey asks his ex-wife something he wants to know for years: Spencer's younger brother, Dillon, is he Corey's child? Or is Dillon a product of Grace's business, making Coach Baker his real father? Grace does not answer the same question – and we are hoping for a renewal of season 2.
