According to reports, detectives would present evidence to a grand jury to determine whether to indict Smollett for filing a false police report.

Sunday, an activist based in Los Angeles Najee Ali Smollett has been criticized for allegedly making false statements and making the world believe that he is a victim of a hate crime.

"It's a slap. Many members of the black community and the LGBTQ community have been victims of racism and hate-motivated crime, so Smollett said that he was a victim … and we believe it's a lie … is certainly an injustice for these real victims … said Ali.
