Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) chief scribe Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, widely known as General Mosquito, criticized his recent appointment as a member of the Parliamentary Service Council.

According to him, people who are unhappy with his appointment have not indicated any solid reason to support their cause, so their criticisms are weak and frivolous.

“No one explained to us how my job as General Secretary would contradict the job of a board member. All they are saying is that because I am Secretary General I will introduce politics to Parliament, but Parliament is the house of politics, so those who say [thus] may have another reason to say so, ”he told TV3

“Otherwise their reasons are very weak and weak and there is nothing in this country that says if you are in any other position you cannot be a board member. Where the law prevents you from becoming a member of the board of directors, the law makes it clear, but in this case, it was not like that, ”he explained.

He further cited precedents that had occurred under previous governments. He said former President John Agyekum Kufuor had appointed himself chairman of the Bui Power Authority (BPA) to report to the then energy minister, who in turn reported to the president.

“It happened [and] those who complain about my position now were there. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu supported President Kufuor’s appointment as chair of Bui’s board of directors, so what has changed? He wondered.
