Highlife legend Amakye Dede praises Highlife artist Kuami Eugene's talent of the year and crowned him Highlife King.
After the coronation, entertainment experts criticized the fact that it was out of place for the legend of highlife.
While others claimed that Kuami Eugene did not deserve to be Highlife King, others think that Amakye Dede could have chosen a better platform to crown the young artist.
It is as a result of these criticisms that the director of Amakye Dede claims that his artist has crowned Kuami Eugene against his will.
Reacting to the question on Anigye Mother sure Onua FMAkwesi Aboagye said that what happened on Saturday, May 18 was not part of the artist's rehearsal.
"KiKi Banson, who was in charge of the artists' repertoire for this year's VGMAs, called to inform him that as part of Amakye Dede's performance, they wanted him to crown Kuami Eugene and I told him that I had to talk to my artist about it.
"Amakye Dede did not support her when [I] I informed him, so I was surprised to see him acting against his will, "said Aboagye.
According to him, he had the news later, since he was not at the event.
He stated that when he had interviewed Amakye Dede, the artist had been persuaded by Kiki Banson to crown him.
Mr. Aboagye noted that Amakye Dede had always refused the offer despite the persuasion, but he had been ambushed on the scene when a crown was unexpectedly given to him to be put on the Kuami Eugene.
"So, those who watched this act will know that something is wrong. According to Amakye Dede, he was surprised to see a lady walking on stage to give him a crown, "said Mr. Aboagye.
Although some claimed that Amakye Dede should have declined this act if it was not in her interest, others also argued that VGMA organizers had to apologize to Amakye Dede for Have been ambushed.
