These wind and solar farms represent the 65th and 66th renewable energy projects of Amazon. According to the company, its solar projects in the United States have offset the CO2 equivalent of more than 200 million kilometers of truck deliveries. The company said its renewable energy projects are expected to generate 1,342 MW of renewable capacity worldwide.
But many say that Amazon is not enough. The shareholders' petition, signed by more than 8,000 employees, pointed out that the 100% renewable energy target had no deadline. And the company's Shipment Zero initiative is only aimed at achieving net net emissions, not at reducing the carbon emissions generated by Amazon's vast fleet of delivery vehicles. Even with projects such as these wind and solar farms in preparation, employees plan to continue to call for a comprehensive plan to combat climate change.
