NEW YORK – American Airlines cancels 115 flights a day until mid-August due to persistent problems with the Boeing 737 Max.
Cancellations represent 1.5% of the total number of US flights each day of the summer.
The United States immobilized Boeing's 737 Max aircraft in mid-March after two fatal accidents. Boeing wishes to complete the aircraft repair at the end of April and the modifications should be subject to approval by the Federal Aviation Administration and foreign regulatory authorities.
American has 24 Max jets and planned to cancel his flights in early June. Airline officials said that by extending cancellations during the summer, they could plan the high season more reliably.
The airline says its bookings and sales teams will work with customers to manage their travel plans.
