Former member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), an opposition party, Henry Ametefe defeated two other MPs to become party president in the Volta region.

Ametefe, former deputy regional minister of the Volta under the Atta-Mills government, won 310 votes out of 603 votes cast to beat the competition. Frank Afriyie, 274 votes, and Francis Ganyaglo, also regional vice minister under the administration of John Mahama, led only 19 votes.

George Loh, a former MP who lost his seat in North Dayi to young Joycelyn Tetteh, was elected Vice President with 324 votes. His closest competitor, George Dake Zoto, became second vice president with 146 votes.

The badistant organizer position was awarded to Aku-Sika Ansah, while Angelo Norkplim Agbodzie won the position of Deputy Organizer of Youth with 30 votes.

A total of 620 delegates from constituencies in the Volta region participated in the election of the four new members of the bureau, which were contested by 13 candidates.

The four posts became vacant after the creation of the Oti region outside the Volta region, where Oti leaders were transferred to the new region to serve the party.

The elections that took place in the VAG room in Ho were generally peaceful, with a high security presence.
