Martin Amidu, Special Prosecutor
The Special Prosecutor, Martin B. B. K. Amidu, is expected to perform his duties following the promulgation of the enabling legislation supporting his operations.
Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul yesterday tabled in Parliament a legislative instrument to provide legal support to the Office of the Special Prosecutor on behalf of Attorney General Gloria Akuffo.

The government then allocated GH 180 million in the 2019 budget to the activities of the Special Prosecutor's Office.
During the 2016 campaign, the then candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, promised to establish a special prosecutor's office to effectively fight corruption.
According to Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, these funds would help the Office of the Special Prosecutor to fight corruption in the country.
In March 2018, Martin Amidu complained of his inability to function effectively due to the lack of funding for his office.
In accordance with the 2019 budget presented by Ken Ofori-Atta to Parliament, he said that the government would provide more resources to the special prosecutor in the coming year so that he could discharge his duties in the next year. trouble-free task.
