Amidu complains too much, no one stops his probe – Buabeng Asamoah

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Director Yaw Buaben Asamoah urges special prosecutor Martin Amidu to stop complaining of interference in his work and to continue to serve as planned.

He added that as long as no one prevents the special prosecutor from performing his duties, he must remain focused and discharge his duties with professionalism.

Adentan 's legislator made the remarks following complaints in a recent article by Martin Amidu that heads of institutions were interfering or not cooperating with him.

Martin Amidu then revealed that despite his calls to the Interior Ministry to prevent the CID from pursuing his investigations into allegations of corruption against a member of the presidential staff , Charles Bissue, the Special Prosecutor considered that the case fell within his jurisdiction. The CID police have completed investigations that allegedly exonerated Mr. Bissue.

But Buaben said the IDC's work in no way interfered with the investigations of the Office of the Special Prosecutor.

Mr Buaben Asamoah said that Mr Amidu could take note of the CID report and pursue the case if he did not feel satisfied.

"Why does he complain all the time? Let him do his job. Did the President tell Martin Amidu to stop the job, no. Did a minister who wrote a letter to the CID tell Martin Amidu to stop working, no. In his report to Martin Amidu, did the CID tell him to stop working? No, I do not think it will be useful to be at the opposite side of the table with the CID. I think that it will be better for him to take cognizance of this report, to examine the possible shortcomings he finds in the Special Prosecutor's Law and then to solve these problems. No one has stopped him or can stop him from engaging in an investigation about this, "said Yaw Buabeng Asamoah.
