Amy Schumer talks about her husband's Asperger's Syndrome

Amy Schumer discussed her husband's Asperger Syndrome in an effort to get rid of the "stigma that ensues."

The 37-year-old actress revealed that her 39-year-old husband, Chris Fischer, was diagnosed with autism during her special Netflix comedy, Amy Schumer: Growing.

Explaining her decision to talk about her personal life, she told late night host Seth Meyers, "We both wanted to talk about it because it was totally positive."

Amy, who is expecting her first child with Chris, said, "I think some people resist the idea of ​​a diagnosis because of the stigma that arises from it.

"But the tools that have been given to us have made his life so much better and our marriage and our life much easier to manage."

Asperger is a form of autism characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, as well as by restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests.

Amy added that it is important that people talk about Asperger's and get the tools they need to improve their quality of life.

She said, "I just wanted to encourage people not to be afraid of this stigma. I think that many people with autism are not diagnosed when I think their life could be better if they had these tools. & # 39;

Meanwhile, the star confessed that her pregnancy was "pretty difficult", having suffered extreme nausea, exhaustion and dehydration due to hyperemesis.

Hyperemesis gravidarum, of which the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, has notoriously suffered, is a complication of pregnancy that causes severe nausea, vomiting and weight loss.

She said, "I did not know that pregnancies could be such a disappointment. I've vomited several times when arriving here.

Speaking about her husband in her special comedy, Amy confided that she had quickly realized that the chef's brain "was a little different" from his own.

She told a crowd in Chicago, "From the beginning, I knew that my husband's brain was a little different from mine. I have to start all over again because I really want to do it right because I like it a lot.

"My husband was diagnosed with what used to be called Asperger. He has a spectrum disorder of autism. He is on the spectrum. And there were signs at first.

The actress and chef Chris is married in February 2018 after three months together. Amy announced last October that she was expecting a child.

She revealed to Seth that she was still suffering from pregnancy-related hyperemesis gravidarum.

The actress then claimed that Chris and she knew the bad of their baby, but added, "We do not care".

Amy said that they could choose their identity as long as their baby did not identify as a DJ.

She commented on everyone's advice, including Seth's wife, Alexi Ashe.
